Pak-Prism Report | Published July 9, 2026
Embassy in Vietnam recently notified all Pakistanis livening in the country that the federal government of Pakistan had appointed a new Grievance Commissioner for the overseas Pakistanis.
In a major move aimed at facilitating the Pakistani diaspora, Wafaqi Mohtasib (Ombudsman) Secretariat has officially announced the appointment of Dr Syed Asif Hussain as new Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis.
The appointment, which takes effect immediately, was made by the Wafaqi Mohtasib under the powers conferred by Section 7 of the Federal Ombudsman Institutional Reforms Act, 2013. Dr Syed Asif Hussain, who is currently serving as the Senior Advisor (IC & IRD) at the Ombudsman Secretariat, will assume the role until further orders.
According to a public notice issued by the secretariat, the primary objective of this designation is to ensure the provision of speedy relief and efficient grievance redressal to millions of non-resident Pakistanis facing issues across various federal government departments.
The secretariat has advised the general public and overseas expatriates to forward their complaints, feedback, or suggestions directly to the newly appointed Grievance Commissioner. Expatriates can reach out by name through physical mail or digital channels.
The Grievance Commissioner Cell has historically played a critical role in bridging the gap between overseas Pakistanis and domestic federal ministries, ensuring that complaints regarding administrative delays, inattention, or institutional injustices are resolved in a time-bound manner.
The official contact channels dedicated for this purpose include the postal address of Ombudsman Secretariat, its official email, the official website, and telephone numbers.
