Government Issues Cybercrime Advisory for
Overseas Pakistanis, Outline Reporting Process
Pak-Prism Report | Published Oct 27, 2026
Government of Pakistan has issued a comprehensive public advisory aimed at guiding citizens and overseas Pakistanis on how to handle and report cybercrime incidents, emphasizing prompt reporting to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
The guidelines outline a five-step process to assist victims of online harassment, extortion, identity theft, and digital threats: First, citizens are urged to take screenshots of threatening messages, posts, or profiles, save relevant links, usernames, and contact numbers, and keep all evidence stored securely.
The complaints should be directly reported to the NCCIA via their portal at `www.nccia.gov.pk`. Overseas Pakistanis are advised to appoint a relative in Pakistan – providing their full name, city, contact details, address, and CNIC number – to follow up on the case at a Cybercrime Reporting Centre (CCRC).
Overseas victims without a representative in Pakistan can lodge complaints through INTERPOL or the Pakistan embassy or high commission in their country of residence.
The complainants must save their complaint reference numbers and be prepared to provide additional evidence during follow-ups. Authorities explicitly warn victims facing blackmail or online harassment not to pay money to extortionists and to seek official legal help immediately.
