Embassy Issues Guidelines on How to
Reclaim Pakistani Nationality in Germany

Syed Qamar Raza, chairman Pakistan Overseas Foundation (OPF), in a recent statement said that embassy of Pakistan in Germany has issued guidelines on how reclaim Pakistani nationality.
“I am pleased to share with the Pakistani community in Germany that, pursuant to the dual nationality agreement between the Government of Pakistan and Germany, the embassy of Pakistan in Germany has issued policy guidelines for reclaiming Pakistani nationality,” the OPF head said in a post on X.
This development meets a long-standing need of the Pakistani diaspora in Germany and is a significant step toward addressing their concerns. OPF reaffirms its commitment to continue facilitating and resolving the genuine issues of overseas Pakistanis, as always, the chairman said.
Raza further said that fresh cases of Pakistan-origin applicants acquiring German nationality do not require renunciation of Pakistani nationality. Individuals who had previously renounced their Pakistani nationality may reclaim the same by submitting Form-Y on prescribed format.
The required documents and procedure includes:
- Form-Y – five copies (typed or digital)
- Original Renunciation of Citizenship Certificate – five copies
- POC/NICOP/CNIC – five copies
- Five passport-sized photographs – (latest)
- Fee – 100 Euros (per certificate)
- 6. German passport – five copies
