Growth at IRENA 16TH Assembly in UAE

Pakistani delegation at the 16th Assembly of International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) has highlighted the country’s rapid solar surge.
The IRENA assembly was recenty held in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirate (UAE). A post on X by Pakistan embassy in UAE noted that the production of solar energy had rapidly increased. The solar capacity has reached to 18 gigawatt (GW) by 2025 with renewables now exceeding 53% of power generation.
Initiatives like the Punjab Solar Panel Scheme are tackling energy poverty directly. Target is 60% renewables by 2030. Pakistan called for increased concessional finance, global public goods status for storage/green hydrogen, and stronger regional cooperation. Pakistan reiterated its commitment to the Paris Agreement and a just energy transition.
