Pakistan Envoy Visits Indiana for
Economic, Community Outreach

As part of economic and community outreach in the State of Indiana, Rizwan Sheikh, ambassador of Pakistan to the United States, recently visited the state accompanied by Zaman Mehdi, consul general of Pakistan in Chicago.
The visit focused on promoting trade and investment, strengthening commercial partnerships, and interacting with the Pakistani-American community, shared the consulate general in a social media post.
During the visit, Ambassador Sheikh toured Calderon Textiles, a leading Indiana-based company specializing in textile solutions for the hospitality and healthcare sectors. The ambassador visited the company’s headquarters and its extensive distribution center, where he was briefed on its operations, warehousing facilities, and nationwide supply network.
Ambassador Sheikh appreciated Calderon Textiles’ longstanding business relationship with Pakistan, noting that the company sources a significant share of its textile products from Pakistani manufacturers. He observed that the partnership reflects the quality, reliability, and competitiveness of Pakistan’s textile industry and serves as an excellent example of mutually beneficial commercial cooperation between the two countries.
The ambassador emphasized the government of Pakistan’s commitment to expanding bilateral trade and attracting greater foreign investment through a transparent, business-friendly policy framework and continued economic reforms. He encouraged greater business-to-business collaboration and highlighted opportunities for US companies to deepen sourcing partnerships, explore value-added manufacturing, and invest in Pakistan’s diverse and growing economy. He noted that stronger commercial linkages would contribute to economic growth, innovation, employment generation, and the further strengthening of Pakistan–United States economic relations.
The visit concluded with a dinner hosted by the Pakistan American Friendship Association of Indiana, where members of the Pakistani-American community interacted with the ambassador.
Ambassador Sheikh appreciated the community’s valuable contributions to strengthening Pakistan–United States relations and encouraged continued engagement in promoting Pakistan’s economic potential, cultural heritage, and positive image in the United States.
