Learn about Drowning of Pakistani Student

Embassy of Pakistan is in contact with the relevant German Government agencies regarding the tragic incident of missing/drowning of a Pakistani student, Mirza Usayd, in Werbellinsee lake near Berlin.
In a press release, the embassy said that since day one of this tragic incident, the embassy of Pakistan has been actively engaged in efforts to obtain details regarding the circumstances and updates of the investigation from the German rescue and police departments. However, due to stringent laws and policies governing the protection of personal information in Germany, local rescue and police authorities are currently not disclosing further details regarding the incident.
The embassy continues to extend its full cooperation to the German authorities to facilitate the completion of all necessary legal formalities. “We express our heartfelt sympathies to the family of Mr. Mirza Usayd during this extremely difficult time,” the statement noted.
The Pakistani community in Germany and local media are requested to refrain from speculation and the dissemination of unverified information regarding this sensitive matter. Such reports may not only adversely affect the rights and privacy of the student and his family but may also constitute a violation of applicable German laws. “We therefore urge everyone to exercise patience and restraint until the investigation is completed and the final report is available,” the embassy said.
