Pak Prism Report
Nasreen & Alam Sher Foundation (NASF) has emerged as a humanitarian organization dedicated to improving lives through health care, education, disaster relief, and peace-building initiatives across America for South Asians.
Founded in February 2007 by Dr. Alam Sher and his wife Nasreen Sher, the nonprofit organization was established with a vision to promote human development beyond economic growth and to focus on dignity, equality, and access to basic services.
Based in the United States but actively involved in Pakistan and neighboring countries, the foundation operates as a non-governmental, non-political, and non-religious charity. Its mission centers on supporting vulnerable communities through practical and sustainable projects in health and education. According to the organization, it seeks to create opportunities for people to exercise their basic rights and improve their quality of life.
One of the foundation’s most recognized contributions has been its medical outreach programs in Pakistan. The organization has conducted numerous free eye camps in underserved rural areas, particularly in Sindh. These camps have provided cataract surgeries and medical treatment to thousands of patients who otherwise lacked access to healthcare facilities. The foundation reports that it has organized multiple eye camps and facilitated tens of thousands of cataract surgeries since its inception.
The organization also played a significant humanitarian role during the devastating 2010 floods in Pakistan. Medical teams associated with the foundation established relief camps in affected regions, treating patients suffering from waterborne and respiratory diseases. The charity additionally distributed tents, mosquito nets, syringes, and other emergency supplies to displaced families.
Beyond healthcare, the foundation has invested in education and youth development. It has donated books, furniture, and computers to schools in Pakistan, while also helping establish learning facilities aimed at improving educational opportunities for students in underprivileged communities.
The foundation’s leadership includes an international board with representatives from several South Asian countries. Dr. Alam Sher, a pharmacist and healthcare professional, continues to lead the organization alongside volunteers and medical experts committed to humanitarian work.
Over the years, Nasreen and Alam Sher Foundation has become known for combining medical assistance, educational support, and social welfare initiatives under a broader mission of peace and human development. Through its continued outreach efforts, the organization seeks to bring relief and opportunity to communities facing poverty, illness, and social hardship.
