CG in Dubai Emphasizes Importance of
Remittances, Overseas Pakistanis’ Role

Hussain Muhammad, consul general (CG) of Pakistan in Dubai, highlighted the importance of remittances and the contributions of overseas Pakistanis while addressing an event recently organized by Index Exchange in Dubai.
In a press release, the consulate general said that the event marked the launch of the company’s upcoming Eid Al Adha campaign, aimed at encouraging formal remittance flows.
In his address, the CG appreciated Index Exchange for convening the event and providing a platform to deliberate on ways to strengthen, optimize, and secure remittance flows for the benefit of both senders and recipients.
Highlighting the role of the Pakistani diaspora in the UAE, he described the community as a vital pillar of national strength. He noted that overseas Pakistanis have not only contributed meaningfully to the development of the host country but have also played a key role in supporting Pakistan’s economy.
The CG observed that remittance inflows in recent years reflect the unwavering commitment of the diaspora. Hussain emphasized the importance of promoting formal, secure, and efficient remittance channels, adding that the consulate regularly engages with the community, including through visits to labour camps, to raise awareness about the importance of utilizing legal remittance avenues.
He further referred to initiatives undertaken by the government of Pakistan, including Roshan Digital Accounts, which provide overseas Pakistanis with streamlined and accessible banking solutions. He underscored that sustained collective efforts are required to further strengthen remittance systems and maximize their contribution to national economic development.
Ali Zeb Khan, trade and investment counselor underscored the importance of such initiatives in enhancing remittance inflows and promoting avenues for investment and economic growth.
Humayun Murad, executive director, and Syed Abdul Salam, chief operating officer of Index Exchange, highlighted the organization’s ongoing campaigns aimed at encouraging formal remittance flows and supporting sustainable initiatives.
The event was attended by members of the Pakistani business community and distinguished guests from across the UAE.
