Tipu Usman, high commissioner (HC) of Pakistan to UK – who is also the honorary president of the Pakistan Society, recently attended the 75th annual dinner of the society held in the historic Great Hall of Lincoln’s Inn at London.

The annual dinner was attended by Chair of the Pakistan Society Maj. Gen. (R) Seumas Kerr CBE, trustees, office bearers, members, and a large number of friends of Pakistan in the UK.

A press release from Pakistan high commission noted that in his address, the high commissioner appreciated the Pakistan Society for strengthening the bonds between the people of Pakistan and the United Kingdom. The society, through talks, cultural evenings and acclaimed events, has showcased Pakistan’s rich and diverse heritage and built lasting friendships between the two countries.

High Commissioner Usman praised the society’s growing outreach to the young British Pakistani diaspora across UK and its focus on widening access to education and opportunity for the next generation.

The high commissioner reiterated Pakistan high commission’s commitment to working closely with the Pakistan Society on initiatives for expanding outreach to British-Pakistanis, and deepening political, economic, cultural and educational links between Pakistan and the UK.

On the occasion, the Pakistan Society Jinnah Medals were awarded to Nahid Siddiqui, the renowned international Kathak dancer abd choreographer; and Sir William Blackburne, a great friend of Pakistan and former Chair of the Society.

Founded in 1951, the Pakistan Society is an international organization and a UK registered charity with the motto “Bringing Pakistan and Britain Together”. King Charles III and the president of Pakistan are patrons of the society.
