Embassy of Pakistan in Thailand hosted a reception at the Anantara Hotel in Bangkok to commemorate Defence and Martyrs’ Day of Pakistan.
In a press release, the embassy said that the event was attended by former Foreign Minister of Thailand Dr. Kantathi Suphamongkhon, senior officials from the Thai Armed Forces and Ministry of Defence, members of the diplomatic and defence corps, think-tank representatives, defence industry leaders, and members of the Pakistani community.
Ambassador-designate Saadia Altaf Qazi and Defence Attaché Colonel Choudhry Jawad Afzal Maken welcomed the guests. The commemoration highlighted the significance of Defence Day in paying tribute to the sacrifices of Pakistan’s martyrs, veterans and their families. Addressing the gathering, the ambassador and defence attaché noted that the courage demonstrated during the 1965 war, as well as during Marka-e-Haq in 2025, continues to inspire successive generations of the nation’s Armed Forces. They also highlighted Pakistan’s contributions to global peace through United Nations peacekeeping operations, anti-terrorism efforts, and maritime counter-piracy missions.
Ambassador Qazi underscored Pakistan’s commitment to peace, its preference for diplomacy over conflict, and its inherent right to self-defence in line with international law and the UN Charter. She reiterated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts toward resolving the Middle East conflict and reaffirmed support for the right to self-determination for the Kashmiri and Palestinian people under relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
The ceremony also celebrated 75 years of bilateral ties between Pakistan and Thailand, focusing on growing defence cooperation and professional military exchanges.
The guests viewed a short visual presentation on the bravery of Pakistan’s martyrs, followed by a dinner featuring Pakistani cuisine and a live tabla performance.
