Reception for Republican Candidate

Pak-Prism Report | Published Sept 10, 2026

The Pakistani American Public Affairs Committee (PAKPAC) Georgia Chapter recently hosted Dr. John Cowan for a reception. Dr. Cowan is running for the US House in Georgia’s 11th Congressional District as Republican party candidate.

In a post on X, the committee said, “Dr John Cowan is a neurosurgeon and a small business owner. He received an M.D. from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed his residency in neurosurgery at the University of Michigan Medical School. In the earlier years of his college, Dr. Cowan spent time in Pakistan working in hospitals. “

At the event, Dr. Cowan talked about the importance of improving health care in the United States, immigration reform, and improving energy infrastructure.

PAKPAC Georgia Chapter addressed issues of importance to the Georgia Pakistani American community. Issues included US foreign policy towards Pakistan pertaining to the need for strengthening democratic integrity and human rights, H.R. 5271, Pakistan Freedom and Accountability Act, and the unjust imprisonment of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, the committee stated in the post.

Other issues of importance discussed included immigration reform with special focus on the need to expand immigration reform to address challenges in healthcare such as expanding programs regarding physicians serving in underserved areas.

PAKPAC Georgia Chapter looks forward to building a relationship with Dr. John Cowan, the post noted.
