Envoy Hosts Pakistani Doctors, Seeks
Enhanced Healthcare Ties with Ireland

A delegation from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP), led by President Prof. Muhammad Shoaib Shafi and Senior Vice President Prof. Khalid Gondal, recently called on Mariam Aftab, ambassador of Pakistan to Ireland, at the embassy of Pakistan in Dublin.
The visiting delegation included representatives and heads from prominent Irish institutions, including the Health Service Executive (HSE) and the Royal Colleges of Ireland, an embassy press release stated.
During the meeting, the CPSP leadership briefed the ambassador on ongoing initiatives, particularly joint training programs for Pakistani doctors in Ireland. The delegation expressed appreciation for the embassy’s continuous efforts to promote bilateral ties in the medical domain.
Welcoming the delegation, Ambassador Mariam Aftab highlighted the growing cooperation between the two nations across various sectors. She commended Pakistani healthcare professionals in Ireland for their contributions, noting that Irish President Catherine Connolly lauded their services during a meeting in January.
Ambassador Aftab described the joint training initiative between CPSP and HSE as a “mutually beneficial” agreement that acts as a “brain gain” for Pakistan. She congratulated CPSP for enhancing Pakistan’s standing in the international medical community and reaffirmed the embassy’s commitment to further strengthening healthcare ties with Ireland.
