Pakistan Consul Meets Rockford Mayor,
Discusses Business, Education Linkages

Zaman Mehdi, Pakistan consul general in Chicago, recently visited Rockford, Illinois, home to a vibrant Pakistani-American community, and met Mayor Thomas McNamara to explore opportunities for strengthening Pakistan–US ties at the local level.
During the interaction, the consul general discussed prospects for promoting business, investment and educational linkages between Rockford and Pakistan, while highlighting the important role of the Pakistani-American community in building stronger people-to-people and economic connections.
State Representatives Dave Vella and Maurice West, State Senator Steve Stadelman, and Shahid Naseer, entrepreneur and former president of Muslim Association of Greater Rockford joined the meeting.
The consul general appreciated the warm engagement and expressed the consulate’s commitment to expanding partnerships with communities and institutions across Illinois.
